Midweek Randoms Link-Up!

Today I'm linking up with Megan from In This Wonderful Life for Midweek Randoms!

1. I haven't been very hungry for the last few weeks, but today I went to meet up with a few girlfriends for brunch at one of our favorite places. I haven't been there in a while even though it is just a few blocks from our house. And oh man, I had cinnamon croissant french toast with fresh strawberries  and I was in heaven!! It was sooooo delicious and I think I will have to go back here more over the next few weeks because my hunger came right back!

2. My belly is so big now that I can't sit up without really spreading my legs like a boy or sitting cross-legged. I choose the latter. Patrick thinks its so funny to watch me try to get around.

3. I now probably only 5 hours a night even though I try for 8. But the good (or bad) thing is that I nap between pretty much every one of my meals. Now I know what a newborns life is like, except that I have to get up and go to the bathroom and nobody rocks me to sleep.

4. Yesterday Patrick put together our new barbecue. It is huge! It was sort of an early Fathers day present because I wanted to get it now since the babies may be arriving very close to Fathers day. He made his dads famous ribs, grilled corn on the cob, potato salad, and a green salad as a summer kick-off and they were amazing. We had my brother and his wife over and it was so much fun. (I forgot to take a picture of the spread :/)

5. We set all of the swings, bouncers, and play yard up in the living room and had the mats and other toys and stuff out. Patrick went around and turned everything on and it was so fun to see it all going. Soon enough our house will be always be that way!

6. This coming Friday is one of my good friends weddings and I am so excited that I can go! Right now im planning on actually walking but that may change. Patrick still thinks I should use a wheelchair  so im not on my feet too much. That may be a good idea.

But for the life of me I can't find a dress that I want to wear! Its a night wedding so all of my go to maxi dresses are too light and springy. Tomorrow Im going to see what I can find but I don't fit into much so we'll see!

30 Week Appointment!

We had another great appointment today! All the babies look great! Their weights are getting a bit harder to measure because they are running out of room but they were able to get pretty good estimates. Owen was 3 pounds 13 ounces, Declan was 3 pounds 8 ounces and Evelyn was 3 pounds 10 ounces! Their heart rates and fluid levels looked good. As we get closer to delivery, the doctors are paying more attention to fluid and the placentas. They wont hesitate to deliver if anything isn't right.

My cervix is now measuring 2.9 cm, so we will pay attention to that too but it is still awesome for this far along.

We also talked about delivery. With the babies growing so well, the original thought of 36 weeks has changed to 35. It will be safer for all of us. They should be big enough and along with that, the placentas will probably start to deteriorate then.

So, the C-Section is officially scheduled for Monday, July 1st! I will be 35 weeks and 1 day.

At most, we have 34 more days until we meet them!!! It's getting so close! Hopefully knowing that will get me through all the aches and pains of this last month.

Pregnancy Update: 30 Weeks!

Yay! We've made it to 30 weeks! This isn't our big goal but for some reason it feels like such an accomplishment! 30 sounds so much further than 29. It also makes the fact that they will be here very soon much more real. These last few weeks are going to be very hard on me but every extra day will be so much better for the babies.

Wow this is a scary picture to look at. They sure are growing!!
And here's what I see. My feet are long gone! (Sorry for the boobage)

How far along: 30 weeks!
Size of babies: Three Large Cabbages
Total weight gain/loss: 43 pounds as of 5/20/13.
Gender: Yes we know! 2 boys and a girl! Owen, Declan, and Evelyn!
Maternity clothes: I dont fit into many of my maternity shirts anymore and nothing is too comfortable. Ive been living in maxi dresses and Patricks XL T-shirts and yoga pants, sweat pants or a few maternity pants.
Stretch marks: Nope!! But my belly feels very stretched so we'll see.
Belly Button: Still flat. And very stretched out so I dont see in popping. Right now it is about 3 inches from the middle!
Sleep: As good as its going to get at this point.
Symptoms: Any and all. Tired, uncomfortable, lower-back pain, Braxton hicks.
What I miss: My energy. I need a nap after anything I do.
Cravings: Mexican food still sounds good but Im not very hungry.
Aversions: Nothing! Thankfully that stopped after the first 2-3 months.
Best Moment: Patrick and I went on a date to one of my favorite restaurants and then we went to see the movie The Great Gatsby. I read it a long time ago and it was one of my favorites. We loved it! And it was so fun to get out with him. It may be our last time for a while!
What im looking forward to: Finishing getting everything set up! We are almost done!!

Strollers Strollers Strollers...

Well I thought I would finally talk about our stroller situation! I know this can be a really daunting task when expecting multiples and maybe my two cents can help another triplet mama out :)

There are not many options out there for triplets but it is still such a hard decision! There is a lot to think about. Now our choices are not the most budget friendly, but not many of the choices are and we wanted something(s) that we love and that will last.

We came to the decision after lots of thought, that we were not going to get a triplet stroller that would fit our carseats. That just wouldn't fit our lifestyle or the big city. They are very big and we honestly did not think it would be a good investment as we wouldn't use it after the car seat stage. This is just for us though, some moms swear by them. With so many family members in the area and ready to help, a triplet stroller is not necessary. At least in the beginning.

When I joined a multiples group in my area, one of the moms with 3 year old twins offered me to borrow (she will sell it when im done or keep it if they have another) her mountain Buggy Double! This was an awesome gift because I had really wanted to try to use bassinets when they are little. So my plan is to have this for the first 6 months.

It is an amazing stroller and the best thing about it is the carrycot. This is the only stroller that has a double carrycot. It is huge and will easily fit all three babies across for at least 4 or 5 months. I am really excited about this because we live across the street from a park and I want to be able to take walks with them. Its also great because it takes some of the "triplet attraction" away. So al we only had to pay for this (the only reason we got it) and we can sell it when we are done. And I think it will be a life saver.

So besides this, we also have our City Mini GT as a small single to use if we are baby-wearing or if we want all three in strollers and two people are available.

Our big decision though was what stroller to get for if we needed to take all three. It is mainly an issue once they get older but e definitely did not want a three in-line stroller. We have decided on the Valco Baby Tri-mode EX Twin Stroller with the new joey toddler seat. This way we can have all three kids in a stroller that is only double wide! It is amazing and has awesome reviews and the joey seat is easily removable if we only have 2 in it. I plan to babywear a lot and Patrick wants to as well but as they get bigger this is an awesome option without being an eyesore!

We are really excited to start using this! For now we have all our bases covered! Its a lot to think about and seems crazy but what isn't with triplets! I will review these later on but for now they all look great!

And if we do need to go somewhere quick and dont want to wake or mess with any of the babies, we have car seat adapters for the Valco Baby and the city mini. But a lot of places we are going when they are tiny are walking distance and I really don't want to leave them in their seats too much, especially in the summer. Im sure there will be lots of stroller shuffling in the beginning but thats what strong husbands, big garages, and big car trunks are for! ;)

Cloth Diapers!

I have been meaning to do this post for a while. This is just going to talk about our newborn stash, the rest are still in the works. Many of you already may know (and may or may not think we are crazy) that we are cloth diapering our triplets! We made this decision before we even knew we were having three. Or at least I did. Once we found out there was a slight hesitation but it really then made even more sense! They are so much cheaper, but more importantly they are healthier and safer for the babies and are just so darn cute!!

So I was a bit overwhelmed with the thought and all the options out there did not help. One of my brothers plans to do cloth with his baby (still baking) but besides that most of our family doesn't. They were very supportive with the decision and almost excited but that didn't get me anywhere with advice. I joined a few birth boards hoping to find some friends and information (some much more helpful than others) and watched youtube videos nonstop. It all made me that much more excited.

I started feeling like a pro and I kind of had an idea of what we wanted so I started shopping. Thankfully a friend of mine that I had met recently with older children had told me she was done having kids (She had an 8,6,4, and 1) and would be happy to give me (most) of her newborn stash! This helped so much because she had quite the collection of quite a few brands. Now obviously it was not enough for triplets but it gave me a good start. She had a couple of everything and also gave me her reviews of each.

First off I knew we should get pre-folds and covers. Personally I don't know if ill like them but everyone says they say that and they become their favorites. They are pretty cheap and you can use them as inserts (or burp cloths/rags) later on. She gave me a few and I ordered more.
We went with the Bummis Organic Cotton newborn size. They are so soft! We have 24 for now.
(and don't forget the snappis!)

These are obviously not water proof so we got a few covers to go over them.
We went with the Thirsties covers in extra small (for our newborn stash). We have 6 of these plus a few random covers from the friend.

After that I decided we mainly wanted to do all in ones or AIOs. They are the simplest and although more expensive, we both like them the most.

We received 2 Fuzzibunz extra small and I have since added 4 more.

Next we also got 2 of the bumgenius extra smalls and I also bought 4 more.

We received 2 Swaddlebees (blueberry) Newborn Simplex and I added 4.

(So cute and tiny!)
Then she also gave us 4 of the Kissaluv newborn fitteds, which have to be worn with a cover as well.
She also gave us 4 kissaluv newborn and I added 2 more

Then we got 2 Rumparoos lil joeys newborn and I got 4 more (though im tempted to get even more!)

Lastly, she gave us 3 Goodmama newborns!

That puts me at 61 changes which would mean I would have to wash close to everyday for the first few weeks. That thought scares me a bit so I probably will order 12 more prefolds and possibly a few more aios to bring the total closer to 80. That way I will have a bit of a buffer. And I know family and friends will be around to help.

Also, we are using cloth wipes! Wipes have tons of chemicals and are EXPENSIVE! My mom is currently making us wipes out of flannel and some out of terry cloth. We will have about 60 of those.

As for our stash past newborn stage... I got nothing! haha We are in the process of buying a few of a few good rated brands (probably about 30-40) then when we have them here we can decide which we really like and don't and get more!

If you have any tips, ideas, or suggestions let me know! All the help is appreciated!

29 Week Appointment

Everybody is doing great!! I was a little anxious to get in and see the babies again but it was all perfect! There heart rates are all normal and they were all VERY active! They measured them all again and they are getting big!! Owen is 3 pounds 5 ounces, Declan is 3 pounds 1 ounce and Evelyn is 3 pounds 3 ounces! We are now getting to the point where multiples start to slow in growth because of lack of space, so it is great knowing they are already this big and over 3 pounds!

My cervix is measuring at 3.1 cm and closed. Still great news. My belly is now at 44 weeks. Crazy. We are pretty much now in the waiting game. At this point I probably won't be put on bed rest because I already am on self- prescribed bed rest 90% of the time! It has been nice being able to get up and do some cleaning (not that that has happened much) or run an errand. They will still try to stop labor if it happens, but things are getting much closer. Even though my cervix is long and closed, I could still go at any time because of how stretched my uterus already is and the size of the babies.

Along with that, we are now thinking to schedule a c-section at 35 weeks, sometime in the first couple days of July. Its still early, but with their growth and my size (average at 5'5'') that is looking like the farthest I should go. There is only so much my body can take and they don't want to put me in danger which would put the babies in danger.

So at most we have 6 weeks left!

Also, we have officially picked our pediatrician! Well we kinda knew all along but now it is all done. We are using the same one that I went to and I love her! She is amazing and I couldn't imagine our babies with anyone else. I had such a good relationship with her and loved going in even though I only went once a year for well-checks. She is very popular but she has stayed in contact with my family and when we told her about the triplets she was so excited for us! She probably pulled some strings but we are in! She works in a practice with 3 other doctors but really only one that we would get if she wasn't around. It is such an awesome feeling to know and trust your babies' doctor and im so glad we were able to get her!

Pregnancy Update: 29 Weeks!

How far along: 29 weeks!
Size of babies: Three Acorn Squash
Total weight gain/loss: 41 pounds as of 5/13/13.
Gender: Yes we know! 2 boys and a girl! Owen, Declan, and Evelyn!
Maternity clothes: When I get dressed. Haha These days it's mostly t-shirts and sweat pants or yoga pants. Some dresses.
Stretch marks: Still none!! I have been using lots of my mama mios and it works wonders! I don't know if I can go the whole time but i can't believe i've lasted this long!
Belly Button: It is pretty darn flat. Not sure if it will pop. It was off center to the left now it is to the right.
Sleep: Not great. I am uncomfortable and have to pee all the time. The added stress of last weeks scare has also put me on edge I think making sure they are all moving.
Symptoms: Any and all. Tired, uncomfortable, lower-back pain, Braxton hicks.
What I miss: Having energy and being able to do basic tasks easily. It is getting hard for me do do pretty much everything.
Cravings: Still not very hungry but I have been craving Mexican Food.
Aversions: Nothing! Thankfully that stopped after the first 2-3 months.
Best Moment: The best and worst was our scare with Declan. It was so scary but when everything was ok and we saw him on the monitor everything was right in the world. It really shows how much love we have for these babies and we haven't even met them!
What im looking forward to: My appointment tomorrow to see the babies again and making it to 30 weeks!

Back Home

We got home this morning and all is well. They had me spend the night for monitoring. Patrick didn't leave either so we both are pretty tired. All three babies' heart rates stayed normal. My cervix is still closed and there is no signs of me going into labor soon. They were worried that the all the stress and pressure from trying to move Declan would cause me to go into labor but my body handled it well. Thank God.

I am pretty sore still but that is expected. The babies are back to moving a ton. Which I am loving! And Patrick is waiting on me, so i can't complain! Hopefully we have no more scares and it's smooth sailing from here! We were actually just talking about how we are probably about 6 weeks or less away from meeting these babies! It's going by way too fast. Now it's crunch time!

Patrick isn't going in to work today so he has a long list of honey-dos. Sorry Babe! Haha We need to get the few last things put together and set up, do some last bit of shopping, and clean! I've officially entered nesting mode and am cleaning the house like a mad woman.

Another Scare...

We are still in Labor and Delivery and may be over night just to be sure. After my last post Declan's heart rate dropped again to 96! We are ok now thankfully. For whatever reason it seems his cord was getting compressed. Although the boys are identical and share a placenta, there is still a thin membrane dividing them. So they do not have a possibility of getting tangled, but it is still possible for interaction.

For now, what we can tell is that Declan was trying to get into more of a head down position. (For the last month Owen had been head down on the bottom, Declan more transverse across the middle and Evelyn transverse on top.) So he was pushing himself into Owen.

It looks like we have some pretty tough boys already! Declan got himself slightly tangled in his cord which might have caused the first drop. The second time was worse and his cord was trapped between his back and Owen. He wasn't receiving enough oxygen. Thankfully we were still there because the doctors took quick action. We have no idea if he could have been saved had we not already been hooked to monitors.

When it started to drop they did an ultrasound right away and saw the cord being compressed. If it went  below 90, they were probably going to do an emergency c-section. They gave me oxygen and tried to change my position but it kept dropping. As a last resort two male doctors (one being my OB thankfully) tried to manually move the babies. It was extremely painful but I would have done anything. Normally this is done at the end of a pregnancy to try and turn a baby into position for vaginal delivery. Trying to move two babies is much more difficult. Thankfully they were able to more Declan quickly. They did an amazing job. His heart rate went back up immediately and has been at (about) 148 since.

I am in a bit of pain but for now all is good. My babies are safe. And that is all I care about. I am being monitored now to make sure I don't go into labor from all of the events. So far so good, my cervix is still closed and there are no signs. For now I will be on high alert to make sure their activity levels don't change.

It has been a very scary day but all will be fine. They have assured me it's a fluke and it most likely will never happen again. There has to be a perfect position and pressure for a cord to be pinched like that. We all are very lucky that we were already in the hospital.

At Labor and Delivery...

When I went to bed last night, there was not quite as much movement as normal. I did not think much of it but this morning it seemed less as well. It's not necessarily an issue because they don't have much room and it wasn't that long of a time. By this afternoon I wasn't feeling anything out at the front of my belly which is where Declan is. I had a bad feeling and knew something was wrong. So I called my OB and he said to come to L and D. If you remember Declan was the "donor" twin when we had our ttts scare, so he said he wanted to make sure everything was ok. But, he did not think it was a big deal.

We when I got in they hooked me up to a whole bunch of monitors and tried to get each babies heartbeat. It was extremely stressful as it was taking them a while. Owen's heart rate was 146 (normal for him) and Evelyn's was 152 (also normal) but when they got Declan's it was only 108. We were really scared. They did an ultrasound and everything looked ok. My cervix was still closed. I did have a contraction though. I did not know I was having them but I must have had a few.

There was talk of a possible delivery if Declan's heart rate dropped anymore. They gave me lots of fluids and kept monitoring all the babies. After a VERY tense 30 minutes, his heart rate started to come back up. Now he is at 134. Everything is looking ok now but they will continue to monitor for at least another hour.

We aren't really sure why it dropped but it may have just been that he was squished. His cord wasn't wrapped at all when they got to the ultrasound but it was close so it may have been earlier. We did try to move them a bit and it seemed to help some. We are out of the woods for now but we just have to be careful. Hopefully it will come back all the way to high 140's and we can go home.

Baby Shower Gifts!

I was debating whether to do this post or not because I didn't want it to come off wrong. But so many people have asked and I know a lot love to look so I thought it would be a great way to show our appreciation for all the generosity! I am going to talk about all of the "big" things we got but we also got MANY baskets with tons of goodies and smaller things that were so awesome but I unfortunately didn't take pictures of them before i took them apart :( But we loved them all! So bare with me this may get long...

We made a registry mainly so I could keep track of things, not for gifts but many people asked about it so we obliged to send it out. We couldn't believe how generous everyone was! I was a little nervous because I hear a lot that they aren't followed but almost everything off ours was purchased and then some!

So starting with some clothes, there are many more but some are in the wash already!
As you know, our theme is whales and ocean, and we got so many cute whale outfits!
They got so many other cute outfits too! These are just a few. I can't wait to dress them up!
Also, the boys got there very own baby Carhartts! They will definitely get good use out of these!
And how about these Batman and Superman onesies with attached capes! My heart is melting.
And how I just lOVE this overall dress!
Im sure I will add more pictures later of all the clothes we have received!

Now on to gear, we got so many things that we did not even think people would buy us. We can not thank you all enough!

First, the stroller. I am going to do a post soon about our stroller situation and how we are going to get around with triplets but for our registry we only put one. The City Mini GT. And thanks to Patrick's brother Colin, we got it! We absolutely love it and already pushed around our niece Claire! She approved too :)
Thanks Uncle Colin!

The next big thing(s) we wanted were rock-and-plays. We have heard so many great things about them and thought they would be great for naps, feedings, and traveling. We couldn't believe it when we got (exactly) 3!

Thanks to Aunt Sarah and Uncle Luke, Jessica, and Marisa!

We also wanted to get bouncers but did not really specify what kind. We were so excited to get matching sets! And 3! I swear you all must have coordinated.
Thanks to Bill, Sandy, and Aunt Megan!

Another big thing on our list was the swings. We did not necessarily need three of everything but looks like we have been blessed! We also got three of our favorite swings! (One is a hand me down)

Thanks to My sweet Aunt Mary and Uncle Bob, and Karen, Elaine and Matt!

We also received three Bumbos for our three munchkins! In Blue, green, and pink!

Thans Aunt Emily and Uncle Daniel, Lindsey, and Carly and Peter!

We were given two pack and plays, another big item! One we plan to use in our room for the first few months and the other for the downstairs living room and an extra changing table.
We (Patrick) still needs to set them up but this is one of the patterns we recieved, the other is blue and grey.
Thanks Uncle Sean and Aunt Anna and Uncle Brendan and Aunt Rebecca!

We also received two Ergos. I think this was the only "accidental" duplicate but I was happy about it! I secretly wanted two but didn't want to ask! That way Patrick and I can carry a babe! He has said he wants to and I was going to get him something else but these are the best! We got a black one (probably Patrick's) and a tan one! Plus the infant inserts :)
Thanks Deb and Josh and Amy and Mike!

Lastly, the most unexpected gift or them all, the first of our three car seats for when they outgrow the infant seats. I had no idea anyone even knew these are what we wanted and I really didn't expect anyone to by one because they aren't cheap. I won't get into a rant about it because I could go on and on about extended rear facing and safety but I was so shocked to say the least!
We got a Clek Foonf!
I think I may have to do a full on post later on but I LOVE them and am so excited about this! For those that have no idea what it is, it's a car seat suitable for 6m+ and rated up to 65 pounds! (50 rear facing). To keep it short, *in my opinion* its the best on the market. They can fit 3 across too which also very important!
Thank you so much to Patrick's parents for this oh so generous gift! (even after purchasing one of the cribs!)

I am sure I am forgetting some things but a big thanks again to everyone for coming! We are so excited that you are all in our babies lives and we know how much you love them! They are so spoiled already! I can't wait for you all to meet them!

Our house is starting to get VERY full of baby gear but I love it! Can't wait until we have some babies in it all!

Pregnancy Update: 28 Weeks!

We reached the HUGE milestone of 28 weeks!! The babies have a much better chance of survival now with no long term complications and everyday it continues to go up! We are now going to the OB every week! Our next goal is 30 weeks, and after that 32, then 34! We are taking it day by day at this point but everything is still looking great! At this point the only reason of delivering earlier than we hope is the babies sizes. They are big!
Today we had another great appointment, everything is right on track! Owen (A) is now 2 pounds 14 ounces, Declan (B) is now 2 pounds 10 ounces and Evelyn is 2 pounds 12 ounces! We can't believe how big they are all getting! Just for fun, my OB told us that if they were to continue at this rate and go full term, they would all be well over 9 pounds! And at 36- as far as he would probably let me go- they could be 7 and a half pounds! Obviously these are just guesses and I most likely won't get that far, but knowing these babies are measuring big is great for when they are early.
They also measured my fundal height, i'm now measuring at almost 43! They also checked my cervix again and im now at 3.2 cm and closed. Still in the normal range. So, I still don't 'need to be on bedrest which is awesome but to be honest, when im home I pretty much am. Im just too tired and uncomfortable to be up and doing things. But is is nice knowing I can still go shopping or do things with Patrick and family and not worry (too much) about it.

How far along: 28 weeks!
Size of babies: Three Eggplants
Total weight gain/loss: 41 pounds as of 5/13/13.
Gender: Yes we know! 2 boys and a girl! Owen, Declan, and Evelyn!
Maternity clothes: When I get dressed. Haha These days it's mostly t-shirts and sweat pants or yoga pants. Some Maxi dresses. But now even Patricks t-shirts are getting snug!
Stretch marks: Not yet! (I can't believe this!) My belly is getting a bit harder and feeling more stretched so I have a feeling they are coming!
Belly Button: It is pretty flat. And off-center, weird.
Sleep: As good as it's going to get at this point. Im uncomfortable and have to pee. A lot.
Symptoms: I am definitely feeling very exhausted this week. I cant do much anymore and thankfully Patrick has been amazing and picks up the slack even after a long day at work. My mom also is coming around more to help me with household things and cook. She wants to be around if anything were to happen and I know that puts Patrick at ease too.
What I miss: I miss my energy level the most.
Cravings: Im still not as hungry but my appetite has come back a little. Im loving all things salty this week.
Aversions: Nothing! Thankfully that stopped after the first 2-3 months.
Best Moment: Seeing the babies on the ultrasound this morning. They are getting so big and are filling out. They were being so cute! Declan was sucking his thumb and they all were practicing breathing and opening their eyes. Owen had the hiccups and it was so cute!
Also, my first Mother's Day! We had a big Barbecue at our house with both sides of the family to honor all of the mother's and it was so much fun!
What im looking forward to: This week Patrick has a pretty slow week and we are going to do a couple fun things! Im excited to spend some time with him as it may be the last outings we have before the babies make their debut!

27 Week Appointment

This will be a quick post but I wanted to update! Yesterday we went in for another appointment. The boys fluid levels are still looking great and they are all growing! Owen (Baby A) is now 2 pounds 8 ounces, Declan (Baby B) is now 2 pounds 4 ounces and Evelyn (Baby C) was 2 pounds 6 ounces! My cervix has shortened only 1 mm again to 3.3 cm, so we are still in the clear for at least another week! My Peri is very surprised how well my body is handling the pregnancy. Next week is a big milestone and I will officially start weekly appointments with my OB! We will seriously discuss the delivery and hospital stay and have a much more thorough NICU tour where we meet all the nurses and doctors. I have a feeling everything is about to start to feel very real!
